The Big Assist
Introduction

J. Johnson founded THE GAMETYME Co in 2000, with the mission to inspire others to follow their hopes and dreams. Evolving from his own personal life experiences, Mr. Johnson sought to offer a vision of hope to those in need through the acronym GAMETYME, which conveys the message, God Answers MeEverytyme. As a physical reminder of God’s love and faithfulness to us, Mr. Johnson began selling wristbands with THE GAMETYME inscription on them, to residents within his local community. While so seemingly simple, the message is designed to be a constant reminder to people that through belief, dedication, and perseverance all things are possible. Expanding on this platform, THE GAMETYME Foundation was established as a service organization pillar for community outreach events.

Because of his passion to inspire others, and his love for basketball, Mr. Johnson felt it was only natural that he forge relationships with NBA players in order to be able to more effectively reach others in his community, and abroad, that needed inspiration to pursue their dreams. Consequently, THE GAMETYME Foundation has aligned itself with key players in the NBA who are as passionate about inspiring young people and giving back to their communities, as Mr. Johnson has been.

With a majority of the players having come from inner cities and disadvantaged situations themselves, the NBA players who support THE GAMETYME Foundation hold its mission very dear to their heart. For this reason they have chosen to support THE GAMETYME Foundation, and use it as a vehicle to give back to those members of less fortunate communities.

Because of their shared vision, and with their combined efforts, THE GAMETYME Foundation, and the select members of the NBA, have established – THE BIGASSIST. Through this program, the various NBA players host charitable events within their hometown, or respective NBA Team cities, providing disadvantaged youth with essential supplies needed to ensure their successful education, as well as, offering them the inspiration they need to achieve their dreams through encouraging the practice of self-discipline.
